The Emir of Anka in Zamfara, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad, has said Fulani leaders should be worried that attacks in almost all parts of the country are alleged to be carried out by people of Fulani extraction.
The monarch made the statement on Friday, March 30, when briefing journalists in his palace over the recent attacks that occurred in Bawan Daji village at Anka local government area of Zamfara state, The News Agency of Nigeria reports.
“It is disturbing to hear that most of the criminal attacks taking place in almost all parts of the country, involve the Fulani or they are always mentioned,” he said.
The monarch urged the Fulani leaders to call on their people and find out what they really wanted.
“This meeting should be called immediately because it is a matter of urgency that should be addressed before it is too late,” the traditional ruler said.
He said the recent attacks in Bawan Daji village was allegedly carried out by attackers reported to be of the Fulani extraction.
More than 30 persons were on Thursday, March 29, buried in Bawan Daji village of Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara, following a gunmen attack on the village.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bandits attacked the area after some members of the community held a meeting to discuss measures to be taken against the bandits during the 2018 farming season.
The bandits had earlier threatened that there would be no farming activities in the area in this year’s rainy season.
